not committed

Dear sock knitters,

The second Wollmeise Autumn Toes sock has been started. About 1" of the second sock cuff has been knit.

Unfortunatly, I'm not committed enough to stick to it... Hopefully you'll see a completed pair by the end of the month.

Yes-- diverted by one of the four other patterns in queue, I started with a skein of Lucia (merino/cashmere sock yarn) Renee generously gave me last summer for some dye work. It's the far right one, and it certainly has been over-dyed!

The pattern is Scheherazade's Slippers-- Maia Discoe's free mystery sock for September's KAL at Sock Knitters Anonymous on Ravelry. Four clues posted on her blog Maia Spins complete the pattern.

I've modified rows 0-7, and really like it thus far. Unfortunately, the cables don't want to pop in this yarn. [Please excuse the dark evening photos!] Victor recommended ripping out and using traveling stitches for the cabled bits. With this change, they should certainly pop! What do you think-- keep going and stick with the ripple texture, or rip out and modify the simple 4-stitch cables surrounding the leaf motif?

Last night was dark and cool in St. Paul-- feels like winter all ready!

SSS strikes again? No judgements here.

I say make the stitches pop.

I think it looks great. I can see them on the monitor in a dark yarn, so it must not be too bad...The pattern looks esp. nice at your gauge.
