This is my first sock (though I am already scheming for the next few pairs), attempted in honor of this knit-along. I started about a week ago- basic, no pattern, 2.25mm needles. I love the color of the yarn, which seemed fairly unique when I finally spotted it. It's Trekking pro natura in a forest green/charcoal with pumpkin orange for October. Another first for me will be trying to knit while camping, as I am going to Madeline Island (and thereby, the Bayfield Apple Fest) this weekend.
Enjoy your knitting wherever you take it, or wherever it takes you.

I like those colors a lot. You're doing a great job on your first sock. Have fun with camp knitting!
oooo lala! Nice first sock. I hope the rest of the chicks don't read this blog entry. Camping on Madeline Island! Every year the chicks go to the Island on a knitting retreat, usually in June. We hit different yarn stores all the way up and back. And there is a yarn store on the island (not the best, but any LYS in a storm). If you want more details about shops email me! Have a great time.
I love Madeline Island for camping. I wish I could get there more often.
The sock is beautiful and you're doing a great job!
Hey! I knit while camping/back-packing! I thought I was the only one! Sock knitting is perfect for camping, especially on two needles, I can just pull the needles and stuff the project in a ziploc. I love it and hope you will too.
