Socks in The Cities is a Knit-Along in which members will try to complete one pair of socks. This round of the KAL will run from October 1, 2007 through October 31, 2007.
To join and receive your 15% off coupon, come in or call the Yarnery (651-222-5793) to register. We will simply need your name, an email address and your name as you wish it to appear on the blog side-bar. (Should more than one person with the same first name enter the Yarnery will add your last name initial to the side-bar. This will only serve to help us keep everyone straight.)
An invite with your 15% off coupon will then be emailed to you - once you accept it, you are ready to go!
It is not necessary for you to have your own blog to be a part of Socks in The Cities KAL. If you do have one and want to spread the word about our KAL we welcome links from your site.
You can join anytime during the Knit-Along (but we trust that you will only enter a pair of socks that were completed during the month of October). Socks may have been started at anytime.
We encourage multiple posts about your progress. When complete, please post a photo of the finished socks and info about yarn you used and pattern and anything else that you feel is pertinent about said socks. Remember to include your name (as it appears in the side-bar) at the bottom of each post. This will help your hostess know who you are, so she can give you credit for your sock and enter you in the prize-drawing.
For socks to be counted as a finished pair it must be completed and posted no later than midnight, October 31, 2007. For socks to count, they must have a turned heel and must be a matched pair. (You can't put two single socks together and call them a pair.) Baby and child socks count. Booties and slippers do not. Also, key chain socks, earring socks, doll socks and ornament socks do not count - you only get credit for socks that a human can wear. And as much as some people like to wear their Christmas stockings, these do not count either… that is a whole other Knit-Along.
Socks still in progress by the end of the knit-along are still interesting to look at so please post, however you will not be entered to win the prizes. We want you to have fun in the KAL, but we also are not enabling Second Sock Syndrome.
There are no additional entries for multiple socks posted by one person. We want to see them and hear all about them, however your name will not be entered into the random blog prize drawing more than once.
And there will be prizes. We will have two prize give-aways. The first will be a random selection from the blog posts. Anyone who has finished and posted their socks by midnight on October 31 will be entered into this prize drawing. The second prize give-away will be an in-store voting. Whoever can part with their socks for a short period of time should bring them into The Yarnery (840 Grand Ave., St. Paul) between Thursday, November 1st and Saturday, November 3rd. The socks will be displayed in-store from November 5th to the 9th where customers will be placing their votes for “Best In Show”. All socks will be returned to their creators. In order to be part of this prize give-away you must bring your socks into the Yarnery.
Also, we would like to take pictures of the winners and their socks. We have two dates scheduled for that. The first for the blog prize-winner will be Wednesday, November 7 at 7pm. The second will be for the Yarnery vote prize-winner and that will be Wednesday, November 14 at 7pm.
And our final rule is to enjoy this Knit-Along. Please feel free to make comments on other peoples posts, but remember people have worked hard on their socks so be nice. Please keep all your posts relevant to socks and the Knit-Along. And last, but certainly not least, if you have any comments, criticism or kudos please feel free to email Sarah W. at firstname.lastname@example.org, but please remember this is our first (hopefully not last) and it is supposed to be fun. So enjoy and let’s get knitting.
Yarnery employees and teachers are not eligible to win the prizes.
